Summer tour hours begin May 26th
Crocodile Encounter has been offering, with tremendous
demand, the oppurtunity for families to come to our facility and experience a one on one guided tour of our crocodiles
and other reptile species. Family days originated based on the number of calls we received asking if it was possible for past
visitors who came with a group and enjoyed the visit to bring their children for a visit with the crocs. As we are not yet
open to the public as a day park we decided to offer family tours by appointment. This has proven to be extremely popular
and has turned into one of our most enjoyable activities. Here is how it works:
1. Call and set up your time to visit Crocodile Encounter
2. You
may pay at the conclusion of your tour via cash, check, or credit card.
3.
You may bring bananas, romaine lettuce, or other green vegatables for your tortoise feeding experience. Tortoise pellets are
offered for the nominal cost of $1 per cup.
4. Upon arrival to the facility
you will be greeted by your guide, you will enter the entry building for a brief talk about reptiles in general and will see
and touch various lizards and snakes.
5. You will enter the tortoise zone
where you will interact and feed our herd of giant tortoises. Great photos and often the highlight of the visit for many
people.
6. You will move to the alligator section of the facility to
learn, observe and often feed the powerful Texan predator.
7.
Next it's on to Ajax and the world of the Nile crocodile. Here you will see and understand the difference between an alligator
and a crocodile. Watching these big animals eat is an awesome spectacle.
8. Now
it's off to crocodile territory as we move through enclosures full of jumping Nile crocodiles before emerging in front
of the giant Nile crocodile enclosure called the 'Croc Splash zone'. The feeding display here is often incredible as the big
reptiles come to you to get a meal.
9. On your way to the world's largest
reptile- The Saltwater crocodile you pass through capybara alley and have the chance to observe the worlds largest rodent.
Then meet our pair of saltwater crocodiles and learn about their amazing natural history.
10. Get ready to meet Optimus, Princess, and Dolly our African eland. Eland are the world's largest antelope
and extremely graceful and beautiful animals to observe. In this area are also our crowd pleasing pot bellied pigs. Kids love
to feed them and of course they love to be fed!
