Crocodile Encounter has been offering, with tremendous demand, the oppurtunity
for families to come to our facility and experience a one on one guided tour of our crocodiles and other reptile species.
Family days originated based on the number of calls we received asking if it was possible for past visitors who came with
a group and enjoyed the visit to bring their children for a visit with the crocs. As we are not yet open to the public as
a day park we decided to offer family tours by appointment. This has proven to be extremely popular and has turned into one
of our most enjoyable activities. Here is how it works:
1. Call and set
up your time to visit Crocodile Encounter
2. Pay via our family day website
link or at the conclusion of your tour with cash or check.
3. You may
bring bananas, romaine lettuce, or other green vegatables for your tortoise feeding experience. We provide tortoise pellets
but some prefer to offer vegatables.
4. Upon arrival to the facility you
will be greeted by your guide, you will enter the entry building for a brief talk about reptiles in general and will see and
touch various lizards and snakes.
5. You will enter the tortoise zone where
you will interact and feed our herd of giant tortoises. Great photo oppurtunity and often the highlight of the visit
for many people.
6. You will move to the alligator section of the facility
and feed the large and powerful Texan predator.
7. Next it's on to Ajax
and the world of the Nile crocodile. The adult pair will be fed and you will see and understand the difference between an
alligator and a crocodile.
8. It's off to crocodile territory as we move
through enclosures full of jumping Nile crocodiles before emerging in front of the giant Nile crocodile enclosure called the
'Croc Splash zone'. The feeding display here is often incredible as the big reptiles come to you to get a meal.
9. The world's largest reptile- The Saltwater crocodile is up next. Our pair of salties will
amaze you with their display of power and speed.
10. Get ready to meet
Optimus and Princess our African eland. Eland are the world's largest antelope and extremely graceful and beautiful animals
to observe. In this area are also our crowd pleasing pot bellied pigs. Kids love to feed them and of course they love to be
fed!
The tour will last between 1:25-1:45 minutes depending on the animals
behaviour that day and your interactions with your guide. On occasion tours may exceed two hours but we typically try
to maintain a 90 minute pace. You will not forget this experience. Awesome animals, great guides, no crowds. A wildlife
event you will want to do over and over.
