Crocodile Encounter has been offering, with tremendous demand, the opportunity for families
to come to our facility and experience a one on one guided tour of our crocodiles and other reptile species. Family
days originated based on the number of calls we received asking if it was possible for past visitors who came with a group
and enjoyed the visit to bring their children for a visit with the crocs. As we are not yet open to the public as a day park
we decided to offer family tours by appointment. This has proved to be extremely popular and has turned into one of our most
enjoyable activities. Here is how it works:
or email(preferred) and set up your time to visit Crocodile Encounter. Please be mindful that when you book
we will turn others away as we limit tour space. Be respectful of our schedule if the need arises to cancel by giving us 24
hr notice. **Important** Please call or email to set up your tour. Plan to arrive
15 minutes prior to your tours start time. Tours start promptly at the scheduled time.
2. You may pay upon arrival or at the conclusion of your tour via cash, check,
or credit card.
3. You may bring bananas, romaine lettuce, or other
green vegetables for your tortoise feeding experience.
4. Upon arrival
to the facility you will be greeted by your guide, you will enter the entry building for a brief talk about the facility in
general and will begin your interactive animal experience with some of Crocodile Encounter's unique history.
5. Your first stop is our tortoise nursery where you will see the world's largest tortoise
species the Aldabra tortoise.
6. Then it's on to meet the heart of
Crocodile Encounter- Sultan and his alligator brethren. The large Texan predators are as fascinating as they are fearsome.
7. From big gators to big tortoises you now enter the
tortoise zone where you will interact and feed our herd of giant tortoises. Great photos and often the highlight of the visit
for many people.
8. On your way from the tortoises you will
pass through our Siamese crocodile exhibit and see some of the world's most endangered animals up close and personal before
emerging into our American alligator marsh. The feeding display here is often incredible as the big reptiles come to you to
get a meal.
9. After that it's on to the Splash Zone and
the home of our breeding group of East African Nile crocodiles. Watching these big animals as they live there lives is an
10. Get ready to meet our mascot Bud the capybara
perhaps the most loved member of Crocodile Encounter.
11. Then it's
off to meet maybe our most famous resident Ajax and his girlfriend Dawn. Madagascar Nile crocodiles. If it's a feeding day
you won't soon forget there two giants.
12. From there it's off to meet
a variety of mammals from pigs, to Patagonian mara, and our eland herd. Before heading back to touch a live alligator and
see how they really feel!

Your tour will last between
1:15-1:45 minutes depending on the animals behaviour and schedule for that day as well as your interactions with
your guide. On occasion tours may exceed two hours but we typically try to maintain a a 1:15- 1:30 minute pace. You
will not forget this experience. Awesome animals, great guides, no crowds. A wildlife event you will want to do over and over.
